Def Leppard – Rock Rock (Till You Drop)
—————————————-
Welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, your weekly dose of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 20-teens, and today, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.
This week I’ve got a some surprises for you to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Blizzard of Ozz album, Lita Ford’s birthday, and more, including a TON of brand new Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair, along with your old favorites of the last 5 decades.
My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.
Thank you for joining me.
Let’s keep the amped up energy going, and start on that arm-long list of new music, with the newest from Cinderella’s Tom Keifer gone solo. This is “All Amped Up.”
—————————————-
Tom Keifer – All Amped Up
Molybaron – Something for the Pain
—————————————-
Collaborating across the English Channel, with members in Dublin and Paris, that was Molybaron with their new song “Something for the Pain.” Huh. The Hard, Heavy & Hair Show IS heard on the air in Ireland on Total Rock, Metal Mayhem Radio, and EN5 Radio, but the show doesn’t air anywhere in Paris.
J’ai besoin de réparer ça, Paris. Non?
Where you now CAN hear Hard, Heavy & Hair, is on two new stations starting this week. I want to welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair family two aquatic predators chewing up the airwaves, ORCA radio in Owensboro, KY and Indianapolis’s The Shark. And to all you new listeners in and around the Ohio River Valley and Circle City, welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair jungle! You’re gonna die!

Guns N’ Roses – Welcome to the Jungle

Guns N’ Roses, “Welcome to the Jungle.”
Next is Pantera and new Highfront, and your first Cover Song of the Week clue.
Grab your pot–
[clip stoner]Not that kind of pot.
[Clip – huh, whut]Nevermind. Let’s just “Call the Kettle Black” with new Highfront.
—————————————-
Highfront – Call-The-Kettle-Black
Pantera – Cowboys from Hell
—————————————-
YOU don’t need me to tell you who that was, but the FCC says I gotta. Say it with me now: That was Pantera with “Cowboys From Hell.”
Hey! You know what time it is? It’s time for your first Cover Song of the Week clue.
This clue is for fellow musicians and students of the roots of Rock N’ Roll.
The Cover Song of the Week original came out of a 1972 jam session, but was relentlessly rehearsed until it as perfected. It’s a staccato beat, Funk-influenced track that became a staple of the original artist’s live set until their 1980 breakup. Live and on the recording, the guitar player used a wah-wah, while the band’s bassist plays keyboard and clavinet, the latter he says was inspired by this song:
[clip – Superstition]The lyrics of the song were inspired by this 1936 Robert Johnson song which uses similar automotive metaphors for sex:
[Clip – “Terraplane Blues”]That’s your first clue. More and easier clues coming up.
Do you know whose birthday it is today? It’s this lady’s. Join me in wishing her a happy birthday as we checkout two of her best singles.
—————————————-
Lita Ford – Kiss Me Deadly
Lita Ford – Falling In and Out of Love
—————————————-
Co-written by Nikki Sixx, that was “Falling In and Out of Love” from Lita ford’s self-produced 1988 album Lita. Before it, from the same album, was “Kiss Me Deadly.”
As I record this show, it is now Lita Ford’s birthday. Judging by how hot she looks, I’m guessing she’s turning 40 today. That’s old enough to have played in the Runaways in 1976, right? I’ve always been bad at math when counting higher than menage a trios.
You know what is definitely 40 this week? The iconic album Blizzard of Ozz. More about that, including a Randy Rhoads outtake, after this brief message from the people who pay me so I don’t have to count my drinks.
Welcome back to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show. I’m Pariah Burke.
On September 20th, 1980, exactly 40 years ago, former Black Sabbath vocalist John Michael Osbourne released his debut solo album. It was called Blizzard of Ozz. In addition to John Michael–whom the world knows better as Ozzy–Osbourne, the album was a coming out party for one of–some people argue THE–best Metal guitarist to ever live: Randy Rhoads.
Today, September 18th as I record this show, Epic Records and Ozzy Osbourne release the 40th Anniversary, Expanded Edition of Blizzard of Ozz. In addition to genre defining classics like “Mr Crowley,” “Suicide Solution,” and, of course, “Crazy Train,” the Expanded Blizzard contains live cuts from the 1981 Blizzard of Ozz tour as well as other special features.
I’m about to play for you a couple of those “other” special features.
From the Blizzard of Ozz 40th Anniversary Expanded Edition, this is Ozzy and Randy Rhoads live on Crazy Train. Listen to Randy’s amazing solo at the 3-minute mark.

Ozzy Osbourne – Crazy Train [Live]—————————————-
And this is “You Looking at Me, Looking at You,” originally released as the B-side to “Crazy Train.”
—————————————-
Ozzy Osbourne – You Looking at Me, Looking at You
—————————————-
To wrap-up our triple shot of tracks from the new Blizzard of Ozz 40th Anniversary Expanded Edition, this is a rare outtake from the Blizzard of Ozz sessions. It’s the master, the guitar god Randy Rhoads himself with a 1-minute, 14 second solo that never made any of the tracks on the original album.
—————————————-
Ozzy Osbourne – RR [Outtake from Blizzard of Ozz sessions]—————————————-
Randy Rhoads, folks.
Get yourself a copy of the Blizzard of Ozz 40th Anniversary Expanded Edition. I’ve linked to it in the show notes on PariahRocks.com for show number 271.
And beg your mama to let you go to the show. Coming up is Europe and new Through the Fire, but right now, it’s Poison with “Let Me Go to the Show.”

Poison – Let Me Go to the Show

Are you ready to groove the fuck out? Because this is “Bonehouse” from Blind River’s self-titled 2018 debut LP.

Blind River – Bonehouse
After the Fall – Shut the World Out
—————————————-
From their upcoming album Welcome to the New S.A., that was After the Fall and “Shut the World Out.”
Let’s talk about the band doing the Cover Song of the Week in a brand new release.
It’s a sinfully-named super group you’ve heard before on Hard, Heavy & Hair featuring members of Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, Black Star Riders, Type O Negative, and Danzig.
That’s it. A simple clue. Try to think along the lines of a good time… Y’know, with prostitutes and cocaine. You’ll get it. More clues later.
This is brand new Through Fire.
—————————————-
Through Fire – Doubt
—————————————-
New Through Fire single “Doubt” there.
And this is Europe with an oldie but a goodie. From 1986, it’s “Carrie.”

The Cover Song of the Week, new Speed Stroke, Eva Under Fire, Alter Bridge, and more is just around the corner, so keep your ass nailed to that chair you head banging, fist pumping, Metal and Hard Rock loving mutha-fucker!
Let’s do a trio of recent songs starting with a newer band I was just introduced to. This is Mile with “Crying in Your Sleep” and a brand new Adelitas Way following.
—————————————-
Mile – Crying in Your Sleep
Adelitas Way – All In
—————————————-
New Adelitas Way there. The title is “All In.”
Here’s a new indie artist that reached out to me on Twitter @PariahRocks. He calls himself JP23Lyrics, which is an odd name, but a groovy track featuring Steve Dillon. This is “Forgotten.”
—————————————-
JP23Lyrics – Forgotten
—————————————-
More new music! More old favorites! And the Cover Song of the Week still coming up!
Ready for a double-shot of new Hair? Speed Stroke is up after new John Diva & the Rockets of Love with “Bling Bling Marilyn.”

Ready for another Cover Song of the Week clue?
When we’re talking about the Cover Song of the Week, I guess we’re talking ’bout love. Especially if you take note of the prostitutes and cocaine riding on lead balloons.
Think about it. The Cover Song of the Week is next!
[COW]What Hard Rock classic grew out of a 1972 jam session, was released in 1975, and featured lyrics inspired by a 1936 Robert Johnson song as well as a Funky riff and staccato clavinet beat heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”? That song would be Led Zeppelin’s “Trampled Under Foot,” an innuendo-laden song about sexual temptation.
Covering “Trampled Under Foot” in a brand new release this week, from their upcoming covers album, is Whores and Coke… No, wait, I mean Hookers & Blow. That’s the band’s name. Hookers & Blow. You’ve heard me play Hookers & Blow music plenty of times on Hard, Heavy & Hair, so hopefully you recognized who they were when I gave you the hint that it was a super group featuring members from Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, Type O Negative, and Danzig. Founders Dizzy Reed and Alex Grossi are, of course, from Guns N’ Roses and Quiet Riot, respectively. Drummer Johnny Kelly comes from Danzi and Type 0 Negative.
They just released their newest cover, and it’s the Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week.
Here it is, Hookers & Blow with “Trampled Under Foot,” followed immediately by the Led Zeppelin original for comparison.
—————————————-
Hookers & Blow – Trampled Underfoot
Led Zeppelin – Trampled Under Foot
—————————————-
This week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week is “Trampled Under Foot,” the “talkin’ ’bout love” song from Led Zeppelin, whom you just heard following the actual cover by Dizzy Reed’s and Alex Grossi’s Hookers & Blow.
If you missed any part of this show, you can stream it again on-demand 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, from PariahRocks.com, that’s P-A-R-I-A-H-R-O-C-K-S-dot com. Alter Bridge – Native Son
