Cecilie Gamst Berg calls herself a Cantonese Fundamentalist whose goal in life is world supremacy for Cantonese (while letting all the other languages live too) by putting the fun back in mental.
Under the slogan "Learn Cantonese the Natural Way - from a Norwegian" she has been teaching this fun and irreverent language to people from all over the world through podcasts, YouTube videos (including through the medium of bluegrass) and in hand-to-hand combat, since 1995.
She has also written several books about her experiences in mainland China, and has just finished a five year string of columns in SCMP. She is a keen Sichuan cook and often hosts dinners for guests.
Cecilie is (probably) the only Norwegian Cantonese teacher in the village. But who knows?
