Our guest this week is Writer/Publisher Pete Spurrier, who arrived in Hong Kong in 1993 and hit the ground running. Since then, he’s written three best-selling guidebooks, including The Serious Hiker’s Guide to Hong Kong. He has also written stories for the South China Morning Post, Discovery, Hong Kong Business, Prestige and other publications. He runs Blacksmith Books, a publishing house which puts out all sorts of book titles related to Hong Kong and Asia. We discuss book publishing, the disappearance of book stores in Hong Kong and the troubling environment surrounding booksellers being taken off the streets and other politically motivated clampdowns on freedom of expression.
